Up in southern Pennsylvania on a little stretch bearing the name Cossart Road an unusual phenomenon has occurred: Just a bit down the lane, the trees lining the road begin to curve off unnaturally. Some say that they're recoiling from something evil, thus earning this area the designation of 'Devil's Road'. The locals don't seem to take kindly to this name, nor the cryptourists who come to see the trees, as there are a plethora of signs plastered around the area and folks will stop and stare at you if you park along there whilst taking pictures.

Contrary to the superstitious explanation of Cossart Road's trees, my theory is that because the road is on a slope with one side much higher than the other, the lower trees are being overshadowed by the higher ones, resulting in the trees growing away from the shade of the upper slope and toward the more open area away from the road.

But what do I know? Maybe Old Nick (no relation) is just using his evil influence in a really, really lame way.

This picture is another big attraction on the road: The infamous Skull Tree. Apparently monkeyed with in recent years to make it less imposing than it originally was, it still looks like a skull half-buried in the ground.

Plus, the big root there looks like the cruelly grinning head and neck of some sort of monstrous serpent or buzzard! Twofer!
